The mention of black hole makes me curious, may be because it is shrouded in mystery. The enigmatic aura which surrounds the concept is enough to make one feel uncanny; the propositions that the black hole engulfs anything that comes in its gravitational field, is scary. What if I someday come within its radius and it consumes me!!! However, the black hole consuming something is a not a new theory, but when we bump into the news of it emitting something, it feels even more weird.
Researchers found that the black holes are blanketed with hot-glowing plasma called the corona, formed from the gases of the proximate stars. The corona is often linked with the X-ray flashes that the black hole emits, but this connection did not have much scientific explanation.
Recently, astronomers saw the black hole named Markarian 335 release X-ray blazes, and this was preceded by a cloud being absorbed of its corona.
Dan Wilkins, an astronomer at ‘Saint Mary’s University’, was quoted saying, “This is the first time we have been able to link the launching of the corona to a flare. This will help us understand how supermassive black holes power some of the brightest objects in the universe.” He also added, “The corona gathered inward at first and then launched upwards like a jet.”
Fiona Harrison, one of the leading investigator of NuSTAR, said, “The nature of the energetic source of X-rays we call the corona is mysterious. But now with the ability to see dramatic changes like this we are getting clues about its size and structure.”
‘Change is the only constant’ and with the constantly evolving concepts related to the cosmos, the theories about to it are also taking new turns.
