Celebrations have always been more exciting for children than adults, especially for a birthday kid who can’t wait to meet his friends and unwrap all the presents. To make the special day an outstanding one, parents do their level best; balloons, cakes, friends, family, all add up to create a colorful ambience. Lauren Sassmannshausen had similar plans for the 5th birthday of her daughter Taliyah. All preparations were done and they were awaiting the arrival of guests, but her heart sank when only a handful of invitees turned out. Her daughter kept inquiring about when all the guests would come and Laura was almost clueless.
Her social networking profile read, “Tallie was asking about every 10 minutes where her friends were, and my response was ‘they are coming, baby’”. But she did not lose hope and did not want to spoil her daughter’s birthday. Therefore, she decided to do something different, and posted an invitation on the social media.
The Facebook invitation got an overwhelming response as many people from the local group joined in the celebration.
Lauren was touched by the way her virtual acquaintances responded and this is what she wrote, “Never in my life would I have thought we would have so many people care about a child they didn’t know”. In the following words she expressed her gratitude, “I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart and I want to express my gratitude to you all for coming out and making my baby girl’s birthday so very special.”
Her words read as:
“I Never in my life thought a community would pull together like they did today. I had several people RSVP and only a few came. Tallie was asking about every 10 minutes where her friends were, and my response was “they are coming, baby”. time passed and none of her friends showed. So I asked the Springhill community if any of their kids wanted to come and celebrate with us!. NEVER in my life would I have though we would have so many people care about a child they didn’t know. I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart and I want to express my gratitude to you all for coming out and making my baby girls birthday so very special. SO THANK YOU!!! GOD IS GREAT”
